Board and Committees

The officers on the executive board of the Innovations of Special Education Technology (ISET) division of Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) are elected by ISET membership. Members in the presidential sequence including President Elect, President, and Past President serve one-year terms. Secretary, Treasurer, and two Members-at-Large serve for two consecutive years. Besides the seven elected officers, there are several committees that enhance and further the mission of ISET.

ISET Committees

Membership:

The Membership Committee maintains active records of members, making certain that the list is constantly updated. This committee also works with CEC on membership campaigns and works to develop recruitment activities annually.

Publications:

The Publications Committee continuously reviews the publications structure of ISET and recommends policies and procedures related to its growth and development. This committee also recommends to the ISET Executive Board new publications related to members needs, and oversees all publication efforts.

Professional Development:

The Professional Development committee prepares an ongoing plan for a variety of types of professional development opportunities for ISET sponsorship and the infrastructure for support of those activities. This committee also investigates and recommends to the ISET Executive Board cooperative efforts with other CEC Divisions and organizations.

Publicity:

The Publicity Committee plans and develops publicity that will give recognition to ISET members as well as activities of the Division. That includes web and social media presence. This committee communicates the availability of ISET products to members and non-members, and works closely with the professional development committee to publicize events, workshops, and conferences.

Policy and Advocacy:

The Governmental Relations Committee develops a legislative program related to the purposes of ISET and disseminates information pertinent to national and state legislative programs. It also makes recommendations regarding additional advocacy activities for the Division. This committee is chaired by the Children’s Action Network (CAN) representative to CEC.

Nominating Committee:

The Nominating Committee solicits recommendations for ISET Executive Board offices from the entire membership prior to July 1, and conducts officer elections during the month of September. Candidates for the office of Vice-President are solicited annually while candidates for secretary are solicited in odd years.

Constitution and Bylaws:

The Constitution and Bylaws Committee receives and reviews all proposed amendments to the constitution and bylaws, and refers those proposed amendments with recommendations to the Executive Board.

Finance:

The Finance Committee assists the treasurer in budget preparation for ISET. This committee also arranges for the audit of the Treasurer’s report.

Fellowships:

The Fellowship Committee is made-up of the chair and the appointed fellows of ISET. Fellows comprise of doctoral students/candidates, practicing teachers, and early career faculty/researchers specializing in assistive and instructional technology that furthers the mission of ISET.
